Getting to know Lemont
Lemont is a historic village in northeastern Illinois, approximately 28 miles southwest of downtown Chicago. It is especially known for its connection to the Illinois and Michigan Canal, its limestone quarrying history, rolling terrain and distinctive historic downtown. The village’s setting along the Des Plaines River Valley and its historic buildings give Lemont a character that stands apart from many Chicago suburbs.
The community was settled in 1836 during construction of the Illinois and Michigan Canal and incorporated in 1873. The canal brought workers and new residents to the area, while the discovery of high-quality limestone helped establish quarrying as a major local industry. Lemont limestone was used in notable buildings throughout the region. Today, the village continues to preserve its historic character while supporting residential neighborhoods, local businesses, parks and recreational spaces.

No sale counts are displayed in the subdivision tables.
When reviewing a home in Lemont, remember that neighborhood averages are only one piece of the picture. Square footage, condition, renovations, lot size, location, age, layout and the type of property all influence value. A townhome should not automatically be compared with a detached home simply because both are in the same named area.
